With sales offices already established in Finland, Germany, and the United Kingdom, in May 2012, Avant Tecno expanded operations to the United States. The modest 5,400 square foot facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois quickly became too small with the rapid growth of this unique product. So, in the Summer of 2014, the Avant USA crew moved to a new facility in Arlington Heights, Illinois and now boasts the largest Avant inventory in the world.

The Chicagoland area has been an excellent place to conduct business for Avant. It has one of the most highly skilled workforces in the country, access to large waterways, major highways, and 25% of all US rail traffic passes through Chicagoland. With Territory Managers and dealerships established in the four major regions of the United States, Avant USA next set its sights on crossing the Canadian border. Now, Avant USA employs 30 employees who run the company’s day-to-day operations, logistics, sales, service, marketing, business development and financial functions across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

With the skid-steer being a uniquely American invention, the market is one of the most saturated markets in North America with nearly every major manufacturer producing a version of the skid-steer. Part of the mission in North America has been helping customers understand that this machine fills a category of its own. 

That education piece still matters because the concept is newer in this market than it is in Europe. Once customers see the combination of lift-to-weight ratio, low surface impact, telescopic boom, articulation and attachment versatility, the fit becomes clear, especially in landscaping, tree care, agriculture and property maintenance.
